I'm a biologist turned writer. I earned a Ph.D. in Organismal Biology and Ecology from the University of Montana- Missoula in 2007. I used to chase birds around the boreal forest studying their behavior and hormones. Now I live in the high desert of Western Colorado where I study (and unsuccessfully attempt to manipulate) the behavior of two juvenile humans. When not playing outdoors or working with my research subjects, I write about science, help manage my local Audubon chapter and do some occasional editing of academic manuscripts.
